According to Neuroscientist Dr. Sarah Gerson at Cardiff University, "When children create imaginary worlds and role play with dolls, they communicate at first out loud and then internalize the message about others' thoughts, emotions, and feelings. This can have long-lasting positive effects on children, such as driving higher rates of social and emotional processing and building social skills like empathy that can become internalized to build and form lifelong habits." We are in the process of collaborating with local artists to adapt a line of innovative paper dolls to facilitate healthful child role play as wildlife rehabilitators, providing them an opportunity to practice and internalize compassion and empathy for wildlife.  Our collection will include a variety of animals and rehabilitation gear with which the children can play and pretend.  The profit from these sales directly benefit PWRR.

Our Wildlife Education Corner for Kids (WECK) started out on Facebook, but it has grown substantially in scope and is currently receiving a significant upgrade!  We are in the process of migrating all elements of the Facebook group to a new blog that we are creating especially for our Wildlife Education Corner for Kids!  Our Facebook page will remain just as active as before, but it will now simply link to all core materials that will be provided on our WECK blog going forward.  This will allow everyone to interact with all of our WECK educational components, whether or not they have a Facebook account.  All materials in WECK are provided to the public free of charge.

We are currently developing educational modules for one of our newest projects: the Animal Reference Album Club!  The goal of this club is to augment our efforts through our WECK program by providing additional interactive reference materials for children that they can then use to build their own Animal Reference Album!  Each monthly module will focus on the animal of the month from WECK and will include beautifully designed elements that capture all of the knowledge provided through WECK, plus a host of additional interactive extras!  The profits from these sales directly benefit PWRR.

The "Biophilia Hypothesis," a term first coined by American psychoanalyst Erich Fromm, describes the innate human desire to connect to nature.  Fromm explained that biophilia is "the passionate love of life and all that is alive."  Edward O. Wilson, American biologist, later proposed that biophilia may be based, in part, in our own genetic makeup.  There is evidence, both anecdotal and qualitative, that seems to support Fromm's hypothesis.  It is precisely this intuitive premise behind the Biophilia Hypothesis that has inspired us to adopt our Community Murals Project.  Exposure to nature is good  for people on a fundamental level, and we aim to nurture reflections of that vital relationship by painting naturescapes in our home town of Moscow, ID.  This endeavor is still in the fledgling stages of planning, but as the project continues to take form, we will provide additional details and updates.

to the general public.  A collection

of very special local businesses

have committed to display and provide various materials like educational activity pages and informative reading materials to their patrons.  As this venture is still new, we will be able to provide more details in the coming months.

This is our newest endeavor to make our efforts even more productive.  One of the elements of this app involves an educational component.  As this app is still in the earliest stages of planning, we will continue to fill in the details as the project nears completion!
