Canada geese are not just your average birds. These majestic creatures have some fascinating traits and behaviors that make them stand out in the bird kingdom. Check out the following five fun facts about Canada geese!

  1.  We all know that ducks go “quack, quack” but did you know that Canada geese honk?

  2. Canada geese fly in a signature V-shaped formation which reduces air resistance, allowing them to conserve energy on long flights.

  3. Every year Canada geese migrate up to 3,000 miles, sometimes traveling 1,500 miles non-stop!

  4. Known for their strong family bonds, Canada geese mate for life, share responsibilities in raising their young, and often return to the same nesting grounds year after year.

  5. Though Canada geese were built for the sky and the water, they are also incredibly adept at walking and running too, as they are capable of reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour on land!

Canada geese are truly remarkable birds.  Next time you see these majestic creatures soaring overhead or grazing in a nearby field, take a moment to appreciate the fascinating facts that make them one of nature's many wondrous species.
